Three good habits for account security
Account security involves more than a single strong password. Using a different password for every service, storing passwords in a password manager and enabling multi-factor authentication where possible work together.
1. Use a different password for every account
If you use the same password in multiple places, a data breach at one service can affect other accounts. A password manager makes it easier to generate and store long, unique passwords.
2. Protect your password manager
The main account for your password manager is especially important. Give it a strong, unique password and enable multi-factor authentication if it is supported.
3. Add a second verification step
This step makes it harder to access an account even if its password is stolen. Review the methods and account recovery options offered by the service. Start with your email account.
